Dumont Shade Tree Commission Has Climate Change Discussion

DUMONT, N.J. – The Dumont Shade Tree Commission will present “Global Climate/Local Effects: Climate Change, Sustainability and the Positive Impact We All Can Have Right Here In Our Community” from 7:30-9:15 p.m. Monday at the Dumont Senior Center.

The discussion on climate will be presented by Tineke Thio, who will discuss the impacts of climate change on lives in New Jersey and what residents can do about it, both as individuals and in their communities. Thio has published research papers in condensed matter physics and nanophotonics, has 17 U.S. patents and writes a blog on fuel-efficient cars. 

Thioalso  is a member of Climate Voices, curates the newsfeed of a climate change communications group, and is the founder of the Princeton Climate Change Meetup. She completed her undergraduate and doctorate degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Admission is free. Coffee and refreshments will be served.
