Police Rescue, Then Arrest Suicidal Fugitive In Atlantic City A fugitive from Brooklyn was rescued from the ocean and then arrested in Atlantic City, authorities said. On Tuesday, May 2, at 4:47 p.m., Officer Salvatore Rando Jr. was flagged down by a boardwalk ambassador in reference to a male that appeared to be in distress. The male was seen going into the ocean at Hartford Avenue, Atlantic City police said. Rando responded to the beach and found Darren Brathwaite in the surf in waist high water.
