Crash Shuts Down Route 18 South In Monmouth County
A busy highway in Neptune Township was shut down for nearly an hour as emergency crews responded to a crash, officials said. Route 18 South was closed at exit 8B and the crash caused significant delays, according to a Facebook post by the Neptune Township Office of Emergency Management at around 3:25 p.m. on Thursday, Mar. 7. Exit 8B is Route 18's interchange with Route 33. The man accused of murder in a triple shooting at a Toms River hookah lounge will have to stay in jail through his trial. A judge ordered on Thursday, Feb. 22 that Eric Manzanares, 24, of Asbury Park, will remain detained in the Ocean County Jail pending his trial, county prosecutor Bradley Billhimer announced. Dogs Saved From Suspected Jersey Shore Fighting Ring Need Foster Families
Temporary homes are needed for eight dogs rescued from a suspected dogfighting ring in Monmouth County, officials said. The Monmouth County SPCA gave an update on Tuesday, Feb. 13 on the dogs, which were recovered from a home on Embury Avenue in Neptune Township on Saturday, Feb. 3. Six dogs were found in dirty crates inside of a garage and two were found on heavy chains tied to dog houses. Monmouth County leaders are looking for your help in making upgrades to a busy road in several communities. County commissioners will hold a public information meeting about improvements needed on Asbury Avenue between Route 35 and Ocean Avenue at the Asbury Park beachfront. Eight dogs were rescued in Monmouth County after a suspected dogfighting ring was uncovered, animal advocates said. Two men were sentenced to prison time for their roles in what prosecutors called an "execution-style" double murder of a young man and woman in Neptune Township nearly two years ago.
