A Philadelphia-based restaurant specializing in southeast Asian street food will open its first New Jersey location just two blocks away from the beach. Wokworks is expanding with a new restaurant on the Jersey Shore in Margate, the company said in a news release. The 2,000-square-foot location is expected to open in early June at 7801 Ventnor Avenue, the former home of Greens and Grains. Seven people were arrested in Atlantic City in anti-drug operations that targeted areas that were the source of frequent complaints, authorities said. The Atlantic City Police Department announced the arrests of six men and a woman in a news release on Thursday, Feb. 22. Officers conducted two surveillance operations after receiving the complaints at the city's CITISTAT meetings. Actor Kelsey Grammer will be heading down the boardwalk when he helps lead this year's Atlantic City St. Patrick's Day Parade. The organizers announced on Sunday, Jan. 28 that the man known to many as Dr. Frasier Crane will be a grand marshal for this year's parade. Grammer also was the grand marshal of the city's Winter Wonderland Parade on Saturday, Dec. 2. Boat Captain's Body Pulled From Margate Waters: Report
The body of a popular boat captain was found floating near a dock in South Jersey, NJ Advance Media reported. Edward Cairns, 71, was found dead between the dock and marshland during low tide at about 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, near Graef Boat Yard on Longport Boulevard in Egg Harbor Township, the outlet said. A 40-year-old man from South Jersey has been sentenced to 15 years in New Jersey state prison for sharing child pornography on the Internet, authorities said. Robert Ferry of Margate was sentenced on Monday by Judge Donna Taylor, according to Acting Atlantic County Prosecutor Cary Shill. Ferry has received a mandatory 10-year period of parole ineligibility. Megan’s Law Registration and Parole Supervision for Life, Shill said.
