Alert Neighbor Called 911 After Seeing Fire In Unoccupied Jersey Shore Apartment: Firefighters
An unoccupied apartment unit caught fire in Ocean County and a neighbor was credited with helping report the flames before they spread, officials said. Brick Township firefighters responded to the fire in the Maple Leaf Park apartment complex at 1142 Sawmill Road at around 3:54 a.m. on Thursday, Apr. 18, the fire department said in a news release. The fire was upgraded to a second alarm when Brick police said smoke was coming from the roof. Police evacuated the apartment building and the fire was under control in about 40 minutes. One of the 180 animals rescued last month from an alleged Jersey Shore puppy mill was reunited with its original owners from Tennessee on New Year's Eve. Two women who call themselves "Crazy Rescue Ladies" on social media were charged after authorities found the neglected dogs and cats living in unsanitary conditions in their Jersey Shore home last month, police said. Brick Police Department's Street Crimes Unit (SCU) made multiple drug busts in January involving heroin, crack cocaine, pills and paraphernalia, authorities said. On Jan. 24, Street Crimes Unit detectives observed a vehicle traveling on Drum Point Road and Brick Boulevard exceeding posted speed limits and failing to maintain its lane of travel, police said. A woman who was stranded in an Ocean County river for about an hour Saturday night before being was rescued by Brick police, authorities said. Police: Lakewood Man Moons Walmart Customers, Records It
A Lakewood man mooned several Walmart customers -- including a young child -- and recorded it on his cellphone, authorities said. Mordechai Grubin, 27, was charged with lewdness, Brick Sgt.
