Teenage Suspect Arrested In Assault, Armed Robbery: Atlantic City PD

A teenage suspect involved in a robbery was arrested with a loaded handgun and drugs, authorities said.

At 1:57 a.m. Saturday, Atlantic City police responded to the Montpelier and Arctic Avenues about a reported assault, police said.

Patrol officer Jonathan Perez arrived to find a bleeding 43-year-old victim from Atlantic City. 

The victim had been approached by two males when one struck him in the head with a bottle. They then began to go through the victim’s pockets demanding money, police said.

Perez was able to obtain a description of the suspects which was broadcast to responding officers. 

The victim was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division, for treatment.

Officer Mailon Demby observed two men that matched the description of the suspects in the first block of south Chelsea Avenue. One male fled and was not apprehended. The other male, Bryan Maldonado, was arrested, police said. Maldonado was found in possession of a loaded handgun, more than three grams of cocaine, and drug paraphernalia, police said. 

Maldonado, 18, was charged with robbery, assault and several drug and weapons offenses, police said. 

He was being held at Atlantic County Justice Facility.
