Atlantic City Boardwalk Fire Investigated By County Prosecutor's Office: City Spokesperson

The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office is investigating a fire along the Atlantic City Boardwalk, according to an official.

A city spokesperson said on Friday, Apr. 19, that the county prosecutor's office was now leading the fire investigation. The fire appeared to be in the area of Central Pier Arcade near South Tennessee Avenue and St. James Place on Thursday, Apr. 18.

Heather Deegan Hires provided photos to the Daily Voice showing large flumes of black smoke over the pier and beachfront. 

"This is at the end of my street," she said in a Facebook post. "I hope everyone is ok!! I feel bad for the business owners, again."

Central Pier Arcade also has a go-kart track at its facility. The building also includes a pizza restaurant, a 99-cent store, and beach souvenir shops.

Daily Voice has reached out to the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office and a spokesperson said a statement will be released later in the day on Friday, Apr. 19.
