Members Of Congress Arrested During Protest That Stopped Traffic In DC A protest demonstration that stopped traffic on a Washington D.C. street resulted in the arrest of 35 people, including 17 Members of Congress, authorities say. Demonstrators began blocking traffic on First Street NE shortly after 1 p.m., Tuesday, July 19, according to US Capitol Police. The agency stated they would give a standard three warnings to protestors to stop blocking the traffic before issuing arrests.  After the three warnings, some demonstrators still refused to get out of the street, prompting officers to begin arrests. Helicopter Lands On I-395 To Assist Officer, Driver Captures It All Everything is a landing site during an emergency. A medivac pilot proved that on Wednesday, July 6, after they landed a helicopter on Interstate 395 to rescue a police officer.  Park police requested the helicopter to rescue a motorcycle officer who'd crashed on Maine Avenue, WJLA said. A US Park Police pilot had no choice but to land on I-395 around 6:30 p.m. to whisk the officer away to a nearby hospital for treatment.  The impromptu landing caused a traffic back up and cars stopped on the other side of the interstate to watch this rare sight. Officials announced that the MDOT will close the MD 180 bridge over Catoctin Creek for approximately six hours on Wednesday, June 29, to remove large debris and trees lodged against and under the bridge in the Jefferson area of Frederick County.
