One person was airlifted to an area hospital after being attacked with a hammer and shot in Northern Maryland. Shortly before 4 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 5, officers in Hagerstown (Washington County) were called to a home in Devonshire Road to investigate a reported assault. It is alleged that a person was assaulted with a hammer and also suffered a gunshot wound, police said. The victim was flown to a shock trauma center in Baltimore in critical condition, they added. One person was killed in a double shooting in broad daylight in Washington County involving friends, police say. Shortly after 3 p.m. on Sunday, July 30, officers from the Hagerstown Police Department were called to an apartment complex on Brinker Drive, where there were reports of shots fired in the area.
