After 12 years on the run, a man wanted in connection to the 2010 murder of a professor in Maryland is set to face a judge following his arrest in Mexico.
Jorge Rueda Landeros, 53, has been extradited back to Montgomery County to face charges for the 2010 killing of Sue Marcum in Bethesda, the state’s attorney’s office announced on Wednesday, July 26.

A 59-year-old Lakewood man has been charged with killing his live-in girlfriend before fleeing to Maryland, authorities said.
John Filistovich was charged on Thursday, June 1 with murder in connection with the beating and suffocation of Betty Perry, 60, of Lakewood, they said.
On Tuesday, May 30, at approximately 12:15 p.m., Lakewood Township Police responded to a residence on Thornbury Court to conduct a welfare check on Perry, according to Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer.

Maryland Man Wanted In Georgia Found In Pennsylvania, Police Say
A 78-year-old fugitive wanted in Georgia was arrested in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania on March 4, 2023, authorities say.
Gerald Lee Spessard, originally from Hagerstown, Maryland was found in "a suspicious vehicle parked at 1415 Orchard Drive," around 12:25 a.m., Chambersburg police said.
Upon investigation, he was found to have an active felony warrant from Georgia.
Spessard was then arrested and held in the Franklin County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Georgia.
He has also been charged with being an alleged fugitive from justice within Pennsylvania.
