Maryland Man Among Five Killed In Small Plane Crash Near North Carolina Airport
A Maryland man has been identified by officials as one of the victims killed in a weekend crash when a single-engine plane went down in the woods near Wright Brothers National Memorial’s First Flight Airport in North Carolina. Silver Spring resident Shashwat Ajit Adhikari was one of five who were killed in a crash involving a Cirrus SR-22 airplane that remains under investigation days later by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). The Maryland Attorney General's Office has filed a lawsuit seeking damages from the owners and operators of the DALI cargo ship that destroyed the Francis Scott Key Bridge earlier this year in Baltimore. On Tuesday, AG Anthony Brown announced that his agency has filed a lawsuit targeting the owners – Grace Ocean Private Limited –and managers – Synergy Marine Pte Ltd. – of the M/V DALI for causing the March collision that dismantled the bridge and caused chaos for the Port of Baltimore. Plastic Bag Ban Proposed By Pols In Baltimore County
Baltimore County could be following in the footsteps of some neighboring jurisdictions and single-use plastic bags at retailers may soon be a relic of the past. Lawmakers have introduced the “Bring Your Own Bag Act,” which would limit the use of plastic bags and force retailers to provide reusable or paper bags in Baltimore County. “Plastic bags are one of the most problematic forms of garbage and litter, leading to millions of discarded bags that stream annually into our landfills, storm drains and waterways,” City Councilman Izzy Patoka, who co-sponsored the legislation, said.
