Classes have been canceled for the rest of the week at Bowie State University as the community continues to reel from a Homecoming Weekend shooting. See something, say something. A potential disaster was averted after a student at a Baltimore County high school was caught with a loaded handgun after investigators were tipped off, police say. A teen brought a gun into school after making threats toward another student in Howard County on Sunday night, police say. The Howard County Police Department announced on Monday that a 17-year-old has been charged for bringing a loaded handgun to Oakland Mills High School after a parent alerted the administration about a private message that was made to her son overnight. Some schools in Baltimore County were on high alert on Monday afternoon as police conducted an investigation. Officers were called to the area of Lansdowne and Silerton roads at around 3:40 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 11, prompting a temporary lockdown of Lansdowne Middle and Elementary schools, officials said.
