A pedestrian suffered critical injuries after falling off of a pickup truck tailgate that then backed over him in a Montgomery County work zone, police say. A 32-year-old woman who unexpectedly crossed into a road and was fatally struck by a Maryland State Police trooper in Anne Arundel County overnight, officials say. Officials were called shortly after 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 29, to the northbound lanes of Solomons Island Road at Route 50, after an SUV hit a woman in the roadway, where investigators noted there is no crosswalk. Both drivers who struck and killed a 29-year-old pedestrian in Howard County fled the scene and are wanted for hit-and-run, police say. Zulma Maginelly Zepeda Barrientos went ping-ponging between two cars traveling in opposite directions in Elkridge over the weekend, and both drivers sped away following the fatal strike, according to investigators. One person was killed and a driver is at large following an early-morning crash involving a pedestrian in Montgomery County on Monday, according to police. An investigation was launched after a pedestrian was fatally struck shortly after 1:15 a.m. on June 3 in the 1000 block of University Boulevard in Takoma Park, investigators say.
