Big Lots To Close Three Maryland Stores Discount retail chain Big Lots is planning to close dozens of stores this year, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). The retailer, which operates more than 1,400 stores nationwide - including 27 in Maryland - is planning to shutter the doors of approximately 40 locations.  The company cited rising costs and inflation as reasons for the move, and a bankruptcy filing could reportedly be on the way. Lexington Park Man, 19, Busted With Handgun Reported Stolen In Hagerstown, Sheriff Says A 19-year-old who was the subject of an ongoing investigation was busted with two handguns he was not permitted to possess during a bust in St. Mary's County, the sheriff's office announced. Lexington Park resident Zemar David-Tyshon Batts was the subject of a search and seizure warrant in the 21000 block of Dayflower Place on Tuesday, which led to the recovery of two weapons, one of which was reported stolen out of Hagerstown in 2017.
