Firefighter Hospitalized, First Responders Struck By Vehicle At I-495 Crash Scene In Maryland
A firefighter was injured early on Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle while working at a crash scene on I-495 in Montgomery County, officials say. At approximately 3 a.m. on Sept. 13, several first responders were hit along the Beltway between Colesville Road and University Boulevard by a car attempting to pass another near exit 29. According to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson Pete Piringer, several firefighters and Maryland State Police troopers were struck. Silver Spring Man Charged In Connection To Fatal Hit-Run In Takoma Park
A 34-year-old hit-and-run driver who killed a man in Montgomery County last month has been arrested and charged, police say. Takoma Park resident Candido Noe Rojas Rojas, 42, was fatally struck shortly after 1:15 a.m. on June 3 in the 1100 block of University Boulevard. On Friday, authorities announced that Silver Spring resident Efrain Diaz Romero has been arrested after being identified as the driver. Officers found Rojas Rojas in the roadway suffering from head trauma on the night of the crash. He was rushed to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries. …

State Police Trooper Hospitalized After Crash With Suspected Impaired Driver In Maryland
A potentially intoxicated driver hospitalized a Maryland State Police trooper early on Monday morning after crashing through his cruiser while it was parked in a Montgomery County construction zone, officials say. Charges are pending against Washington, DC resident Anthony Bowser, 31, who injured a trooper inside a work zone area in the inner loop of I-495 near University Boulevard at approximately 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 22. Police have arrested two young men from Waldorf on charges relating to attempted carjacking after assaulting a boy at a Montgomery County movie theater, authorities say. Marc Anthony Dacenay, Jr. 21, and Marquie Antonio Dacenay, 20, are accused of assaulting a juvenile boy inside of the Regal Majestic movie theater in the 900 block of Ellsworth Drive around 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 16, according to a Montgomery County Department of Police spokesperson. A teenage burglar out on bond continued his streak of crimes after stealing and crashing a delivery vehicle in Montgomery County, authorities say. Curtis Gipson, 18, was arrested after crashing a Chick-Fil-A deilvery vehicle that he stole shortly before 7:30 a.m., near the area of University Boulevard Wednesday, July 6.
