Alcohol is believed to have been a factor for the pedestrian killed in an overnight Calvert County crash that left an unknown man dead at an area hospital, according to the sheriff's office. A pedestrian was killed in a crash involving a dump truck in Charles County on Wednesday afternoon. Members of the sheriff's office responded to a stretch of Middletown Road before 5 p.m. on Sept. 4, where there was a reported fatal crash in Waldorf. According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, "the pedestrian appears to be in his 30s." No other details were initially released by investigators. A driver is at large after a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian over the weekend in Prince George's County, police say. Oxon Hill resident Melvin Garcia, 35, has been identified by investigators as the person who was killed by a driver who fled the scene on Friday afternoon. According to the Prince George's County Police Department, at around noon on Aug. 16, Garcia was struck in the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road in Oxon Hill in an area parking lot by a driver in a truck.
