An inmate behind bars who was facing a host of charges in St. Mary’s County has died after suffering multiple medical emergencies, authorities announced.
John Sherman Greenwell, 44, who was being housed at the St. Mary’s County Detention and Rehabilitation Center in Leonardtown, had to be rushed to MedStar St. Mary’s Hospital last week, where he stayed for several days before being discharged on Friday.

A strange scene played out in Maryland as deputies from the Calvert County Sheriff’s Office investigated a potential medical emergency and were accosted by an agitated woman, officials said.
Deputies were dispatched to the 6100 block of 6th Street in Chesapeake Beach on Sunday, Sept.18, where there was a reported medical emergency, the agency announced on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
