A second man has admitted to impersonating a Department of Homeland Security officer in Washington, DC to run a series of elaborate schemes to live a luxurious lifestyle. District of Columbia resident Haider Ali, 36, admitted this week to charges stemming from a scheme in which he pretended to be a federal law enforcement officer for a range of purposes, the Department of Justice announced. An impersonator's plan was foiled when he was arrested shortly after a Millersville robbery, authorities say. Stephen Ricardo Bennie, 21, was attempting to impersonate a WiFi inspector when he approached the owners of a home on the 600 block of Caracle Court around 2:30 p.m., Monday, June 13, according to Anne Arundel Police. A Clarksburg man was arrested and charged with impersonating a Montgomery County Police officer while using his company's car to get into a gated community, authorities said. Matthew Kinsey, 47, posed as an officer to get into the Leisure World community on Sunday, May 15, Montgomery County Police said.
