Mercedes Driver Charged In Deadly High-Speed Street Race In Maryland, Police Say
A high-speed street race involving a Mercedes convertible ended in tragedy and criminal charges after a crash killed a District man earlier this year, Montgomery County police say.
Owen Roland Kirill Fowler, 25, of Bethesda, was arrested Wednesday, Nov. 27, and charged with gross negligent manslaughter by vehicle in connection to the Saturday March 9 crash that killed 30-year-old Jobani Alfredo Cruz, authorities said.
The collision happened at approximately 12:19 a.m. in the area of Connecticut Avenue and Quincy Street, police said.

Shooting Suspect Charged With Murdering 33-Year-Old Man In Maryland
A Baltimore man has been arrested in connection to a fatal shooting last month, authorities say.
Rakim Muhammad Jr., 20, was arrested Thursday, Aug. 4, after allegedly shooting Earnest Jackson, 33, on Tuesday, July 26, in the 3200 block of Fenwick Avenue, according to Baltimore police.
Jackson was found suffering from gunshot wounds to the upper torso around 10:41 p.m. that July night, and was rushed to the hospital. police said.
He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Muhammad Jr. has been charged with first- and second-degree murder.
