On Wednesday, Jan. 8, at approximately 5:30 p.m., deputies responded to the library on Costley Way following reports of a disorderly subject, the Calvert County Sheriff's Office reported.
The complainant told Deputy Tunnell that Marvin Charles Dickerson, 40, of Prince Frederick, was boozing inside the library, removing his clothing, and stumbling through the building.
Upon arrival, the deputy noted a bottle of liquor visibly sticking out of Dickerson’s backpack, who was too intoxicated to stand or walk without falling, they said.
Dickerson reportedly shouted profanities in the library’s foyer, disrupting other patrons attempting to enjoy a quiet evening.
Dickerson was arrested on the scene and transported to the Calvert County Detention Center. He is now facing charges of trespassing on private property, disorderly conduct, and intoxicated public disturbance.
No injuries were reported during the incident. Library staff and visitors were able to resume their activities after the commotion subsided.
