Shortly after 10 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 15, an officer assigned to the Benjamin Stoddert Middle School in Waldorf was alerted of a student who was showing video of themselves to other students holding what appeared to be a firearm.
According to the Charles County Sheriff's Office, "the student also mentioned to the other students that they were going to shoot up the school and indicated they had a gun on their person."
Officials say that the student was located, and there were no weapons recovered from them or in the locker. The student's parents were contacted, and a home visit was conducted.
"In accordance with Maryland law, due to the student’s age, they were not charged, officials said; however, they face disciplinary consequences in accordance with the Charles County Public School Code of Conduct.
