The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) is mourning the tragic loss of Master Firefighter Christopher J. Higgins, who died in the line of duty over the weekend while responding to a house ire in Prince George's County. Higgins, a 23-year veteran of the MCFRS, was operating Truck 715 out of Burtonsville when he suffered a medical emergency while throwing ladders at a structure fire on Bradford Drive. A firefighter was injured early on Friday morning after being struck by a vehicle while working at a crash scene on I-495 in Montgomery County, officials say.
