A violent Maryland parolee is off the streets after police say he stalked, attacked, and tried to kidnap a woman at knifepoint in Mechanicsville, sparking a countywide manhunt that ended with his arrest.
William Francis Dixon, 52, of Mechanicsville, was arrested on Tuesday, March 18, following an intensive investigation into the attempted kidnapping and armed robbery that occurred the day before, according to the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office.

A Mechanicsville woman died and two others were airlifted in a crash at a St. Mary’s County intersection on Wednesday night, Jan. 15, authorities said.
Melissa Marie Stallings, 28, was driving a 2000 Infinity G20 eastbound on Old Village Road when she failed to yield while crossing Three Notch Road, at which point she was struck by Bryantown resident Dawn Marie Kirkland's 2011 Toyota 4Runner, the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office said. It happened shortly after 6:30 p.m. in Mechanicsville, authorities said.

Felons Caught With Cache Of Weapons, Drugs During Yearlong Investigation In Maryland: Sheriff
Three felons are facing charges following an operation in Southern Maryland that led to the recovery of weapons, a massive amount of drugs, and cash, the St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office announced on Friday.
A yearlong investigation into reported drug sales in the region led to the arrests of the trio, and the seizure of cocaine, weed, pills, and weapons.
Those charged:
John Kevin Fitzgerald Reed, 60, of Charlotte Hall;
James Nathaniel Reed, 77, of Mechanicsville;
Francis Lavern Reed, 55, of Mechanicsville.
