Hurt Hiker Hoisted To Helicopter, Airlifted To Hospital In Maryland: State Police (Video) A Maryland State Police helicopter was required to rescue a hiker who was injured after slipping and falling from the top of a cliff onto the top of a train tunnel in Carroll County. Shortly after 3 p.m. on Friday afternoon, first responders were called to the area of Gaither Road and Railroad Avenue in Sykesville, where there was an injured hiker who fell approximately 20 feet down an embankment while walking in a wooded area. Due to the location of the hiker, and the purportedly prolonged time it would take to extricate them, the state police helicopter was called into perform a medevac. …

Group Stranded On Island Rescued By Montgomery County Crews, State Police Helicopter First responders in Maryland came to the rescue of a group of swimmers who found themselves in a perilous position on Sunday afternoon, officials say. Ten people were removed from the Potomac River by crews in Montgomery County and Fairfax County after they were stranded on an island and their kayak went rogue and floated downstream. Today, at 228pm, @mcfrs Swift Water Team members were dispatched for a group of people stranded on an island, after their red kayak floated downstream. While assisting those swimmers, 911 received another call for a person in the water near Blockhouse Point.…
