An investigation has been launched in Montgomery County after an 18-year-old from Silver Spring was shot to death in an area playground, authorities say. Christian Ortiz has been identified by police as the person who was found suffering from a fatal gunshot wound near Seek Lane Park earlier this week, investigators announced on Thursday. A curiously coordinated smash-and-grab robbery using a 16-passenger van to break into a gas station and steal an ATM is under investigation in Montgomery County, police say. The group of robbers used the van as a battering ram to shatter the storefront of the Shell gas station in the 21000 block of Frederick Road in Germantown this week, before taking off with the ATM. Pedestrian Killed By Hit-Run Driver In Maryland Identified By Police
A driver is at large after a fatal hit-and-run crash involving a pedestrian over the weekend in Prince George's County, police say. Oxon Hill resident Melvin Garcia, 35, has been identified by investigators as the person who was killed by a driver who fled the scene on Friday afternoon. According to the Prince George's County Police Department, at around noon on Aug. 16, Garcia was struck in the 6200 block of Oxon Hill Road in Oxon Hill in an area parking lot by a driver in a truck. A 41-year-old District resident has been identified as the person killed in a midday stabbing in a Prince George's County parking lot over the weekend. Teen Found Shot To Death In Maryland; Suspect At Large, Police Say
A Maryland teenager was found shot to death outside of a Prince George's County home overnight, police say. Officers were called to the 900 block of Lake Overlook Drive in Bowie shortly after 6:30 p.m. on June 24, where there were reports of shots fired in the area with at least one victim down.
