In a harrowing incident on Monday afternoon, an 83-year-old woman was violently carjacked while retrieving her belongings from her vehicle in the 6700 block of Park Heights Avenue in Baltimore.
Officers arrived at approximately 2:50 p.m. on Nov. 11, where they found the woman suffering from multiple injuries to her forearms and knees that had to be treated by paramedics.
Investigators learned that two suspects, described as Black teens, had approached the woman while she was near her vehicle, when one yanked her from the vehicle and both fled in the stolen ride, leaving the shaken woman behind with the injuries.
A BOLO was issued by officers, police say, prompting a citywide search that ended at around 4:30 p.m. on Monday when the vehicle was located in the 2800 block of Rosalind Avenue, where three people bailed and attempted to escape on foot.
After a brief pursuit, officers detained the driver, a 16-year-old who already had a history of run-ins with the law, including arrests for assault, larceny, stolen auto offenses, and robbery in multiple Baltimore districts.
The teen was transported to the Juvenile Justice Center, where he faces robbery charges as a juvenile.
Police are still searching for the two other suspects who fled the vehicle. The investigation remains ongoing.
