At around 11:30 p.m. on Monday night, members of the Baltimore Police Department were called to the 2500 block of Orleans Street to investigate reports of a pedestrian who was found unresponsive lying in the street.
The 16-year-old was treated at the scene by patrol officers and a nearby Good Samaritan until paramedics arrived to rush the teen to an area hospital, where he later died.
According to police, the preliminary investigation determined that the teenager was not struck by a vehicle, but instead, had actually been shot by an unknown suspect while in the 4600 block of Bowleys Lane before he was driven to his final destination on Orleans Street, where officers found him.
No information about a possible motive or shooting suspect has been released by the police. The fatal incident remains under investigation.
