Many schools in Maryland and Virginia will be closed on Wednesday as the region continues to contend with the latest batch of winter weather that brought inches of snow and ice. With a snow and ice storm expected to batter Maryland and Virginia, some schools announced that there would be some closures and early dismissals on Tuesday, Feb. 11. HAZMAT: Asphalt Spills On US-15, PennDOT Officials Say (

A tanker truck carrying bituminous oil, commonly known as asphalt, crashed on US Route 15 on Thursday, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. The truck blew a tire and veered off US 15 going into the woods — spilling asphalt the entire time, according to PennDOT spokesperson Frizti Schreffler.
