Coli Through The Roof, Officials Warn Just days after a massive sewage overflow sent bacteria levels soaring along the Potomac River, DC Water says another overflow happened — but this one never reached the river. A limited overflow was reported at the collapse site earlier this week, when two bypass pumps clogged with non-disposable wipes were taken out of service for cleaning, according to DC Water. During a period of high flow, wastewater temporarily exceeded pumping capacity, officials said. The overflow was estimated at less than 5,000 gallons. US Capitol Police Officer Charged With Covering Up Georgetown Hit-And-Run A US Capitol Police Officer was charged for trying to cover up a hit-and-run he committed in Georgetown nearly two years ago.  Officer Thomas Smith was on a high-speed chase of two motorcyclists when he collided with one near Wisconsin Avenue and M Street, Northwest around 11:30 p.m. on June 20, 2020, according to a release from USCP.  During the pursuit, Smith was driving in a "reckless and dangerous manner and was deliberately indifferent to the risk of harm he created," the US Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia said.  In addition, "USCP policies and …
