A crash involving an overturned dump truck inside the Fort McHenry Tunnel on Interstate 95 has shut down two northbound lanes and left traffic at a standstill, officials said. Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) officials first reported a two-vehicle crash inside Bore 4 of the tunnel around 4:30 p.m. on Friday, March 14. While two right lanes were blocked, traffic was still able to flow through Bore 3, MDTA said. Traffic was temporarily backed up during the morning commute on Thursday morning in Baltimore when a truck fire led to a fuel spill on I-95, shutting down some lanes. New Traffic Pattern To Begin On Southbound I-95 At Fort McHenry Tunnel
Drivers should expect a new traffic pattern at the Fort McHenry Tunnel starting over the weekend, reports WBAL. Beginning Sunday, Jan. 15, there will be two highway-speed lanes and two standard toll plaza lanes on southbound I-95. Southbound tolls will be collected by a new overhead electronic toll gantry, the outlet continues. The two left lanes will use the left lane of the tunnel and those using the Exit 55/Key Highway lanes should use the right tube of the tunnel. Victim Pinned In 3 Tractor Trailer Crash In Fort McHenry Tunnel
A crash involving multiple tractor trailers pinned a victim in the Fort McHenry tunnel in I-95 in Baltimore Tuesday, May 24, authorities said. Three tractor trailers collided in the southbound tube resulting in multiple injuries around 1:20 p.m., reports NBC 11. The crash involved a vacuum truck, car carrier, and a tractor-trailer.
