A Maryland man is facing federal charges after switching from a pickup truck to an ambulance in leading a pursuit and crashing multiple times along I-395 in Arlington, authorities said. Trouble began for Darell T. Caldwell, 30, of Brandywine, MD, around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 12, when Virginia State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in the eastbound lanes of I-66 near the 74 mile marker, State Police said. A 38-year-old Maryland man was drunk when he struck and killed a 71-year-old woman crossing the street in Arlington, VA on Monday night, May 22, authorities said. Alvaro Alejandro Pacheco Ramos, of Columbia, struck Susan Hamlin, 71, of Aptos, CA, as she was crossing the 4800 block of King Street around 10:05 p.m., Arlington County police said. A Rockville woman is being held without bail after assaulting a Virginia police officer and committing several other crimes, authorities said.
