Sparrows Point Park is the first entirely new park built by the Department of Recreation and Parks in over six years. The addition will allow the community to have their own park that will cover 22 acres of land, according to Baltimore County Government officials.
Tradepoint Atlantic is donating the waterfront property located on Wharf Road. Currently, community members have had to drive around 20 minutes or more to get to the closest park, with the green space addition opening up countless opportunities for community recreational activities.
Tradepoint Atlantic is also paying for the cleanup of the current property to prep for the installment of a 10,000 square foot playground, a LED lit turf athletic field, and a kayak launch and fishing pier.
The new park is planning on honoring the area's history and its impact on the community throughout the development.
