Suggs, 41, was taken into custody on Tuesday, April 9, after reportedly making threats and allegedly brandishing a weapon at a local Starbucks, officials said.

The former Ravens great was charged with offenses against a public order and one count of assault following the incident, according to the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office. He made an initial court appearance on Wednesday morning and was reportedly released by a judge.

According to reports, Suggs was involved in a road-rage incident involving another person in the drive-thru line at Starbucks in Scottsdale involving a second driver that escalated.

The incident was first reported by TMZ, which reported that Suggs' agent said he was in fear for his safety at the time.

"When the man in the other vehicle escalated the situation, I feared for my safety not knowing what his intentions were," Suggs told the outlet through his EAG Sports rep. "Throughout the incident, I was the one who felt in danger, while fearing I would be followed home and for the safety of my family nearby at my residence."

While best known for his time with the Ravens in Baltimore, Suggs has long-standing ties to Arizona, having attended high school there in Chandler before heading Arizona State. He also played with the Arizona Cardinals briefly after his 16 seasons in Baltimore.
