A Maryland native was part of the creative team who scored an Oscar for Best Animated Feature at the 94th Academy Awards on Sunday, March 27. Jared Bush, of Gaithersburg, directed the 2021 Disney animated film, “Encanto" along with co-director Byron Howard. Bush and Howard accepted the award along with storywriters Charise Castro Smith and Jason Hand award Sunday night. “This is a movie about family, and we would not be here without our family,” Bush added before thanking his own wife and kids. A local distillery is looking to give student artists a shot at their next big break. “We've always considered ourselves creatives and we certainly consider this company was really driven by that kind of creative energy," said Max Lents, the co-founder and CEO of Baltimore Spirits Company. Lady Gaga has announced her 2022 stadium tour after a two-year delay due to coronavirus. While most of the shows are in Las Vegas, the 12-time Grammy winner made sure to schedule a stop at Washington DC's Nationals Park on Monday, Aug. 8, 2022 as part of the "Chromatica Ball" tour. The National Mall and Memorial Parks National Park Service has announced this year’s cherry bloom peak. The bloom will fall between March 22 and 25. The peak bloom “is defined as the time when 70% of the Yoshino cherry blossoms – the most common variety – are open," the organization said on Facebook.
