The investigation, launched by the Maryland State Police Computer Crimes Unit in March, led to the execution of a search warrant at the Baltimore home of Robert M. Sherer, 41, and Robert W. Books, 54, on Wednesday, authorities said.
Both were arrested at the scene after a preliminary forensic review of their electronic devices turned up multiple images of child pornography, according to state police.
Sherer was charged with five counts of possession of child pornography, while Books faces three counts.
They were transported to the Baltimore City Detention Center for processing while awaiting an initial appearance with a District Court Commissioner.
Assisting agencies include Homeland Security Investigations and the Baltimore Police Department.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are concerned there may be additional victims. Anyone with information is asked to call the Maryland Center for Missing and Unidentified Persons at 1-800-637-5437.
