A family vacation ended in heartbreak for a 5-year-old Virginia girl.
Saylor Hayes, a nonverbal child from the Bristol area of Washington County, wandered away from her family's rental home in the Pawleys Island area of South Carolina late Sunday morning, Aug. 30, setting off a massive search that stretched into the next day.
Hundreds of law enforcement officers, first responders, volunteers, and neighbors joined the effort to find Saylor, searching by land, air, and water as darkness fell.

NJ Woman Killed In Times Square Stabbing, Suspect Fatally Shot By Police
A 32-year-old New Jersey woman was killed after she was stabbed in Times Square Monday, Aug. 31, authorities said.
At 4:24 p.m., police responded to Times Square after Pamela Cisneros, a 49-year-old Queens woman, had stabbed Erin Piacenti, a Chester resident, and a 68-year-old man, the New York City Police Department said. The victims were transported to a nearby hospital where Piacenti was pronounced dead, the NYPD said. The other victim was in stable condition, police said.
