A Southern Maryland home recently put on and taken off the market was completely destroyed by a blaze that was discovered by a man from a nearby military base, according to the Fire Marshal. Multiple agencies were called early on Monday morning to investigate a fire in St. Ignigoes, where there was a reported house fire. Upon arrival, crews were met by flames showing from the residence, with smoke billowing throughout the area. One suspect has been taken into custody without further incident following a standoff with police at a Montgomery County building, police say. Shortly after 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, officers were called to the 5300 block of Willard Avenue in Chevy Chase to investigate a burglary at a vacant home that was located on park property. A pedestrian was killed in a crash involving a dump truck in Charles County on Wednesday afternoon. Members of the sheriff's office responded to a stretch of Middletown Road before 5 p.m. on Sept. 4, where there was a reported fatal crash in Waldorf. A woman was killed after being struck by a hit-and-run driver in Prince George's County overnight, police say.
