'Flash Mob' Theft Ring Hits Maryland: Four Charged in $800K Crime Spree: AG
Four men have been indicted in connection with an organized retail crime ring responsible for 37 thefts across six Maryland counties, causing approximately $800,000 in losses, authorities announced Monday.
The suspects are accused of overwhelming stores with “flash mob” tactics, targeting high-end retail items, and reselling stolen goods.
Attorney General Anthony Brown revealed details about the operation, which spanned Howard, Baltimore, Anne Arundel, Montgomery, Queen Anne’s, and Prince George’s counties.

Four suspects are facing hundreds of charges for their alleged roles in a string of commercial burglaries and attempted burglaries of gun stores in Maryland, authorities announced on Tuesday.
Between December 2023 and March 2024, officials say that the group is connected to at least 10 incidents in Anne Arundel, Prince George's, and Baltimore counties.

A total of 704 active outages were reported by Baltimore Gas and Electric as of 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, which were impacting 14,526 of the company's 1,332,781 customers.

Thousands in Maryland are still reported power outages following weekend storms that swept through the region and caused chaos for some.
On Monday, Aug. 5, Baltimore Gas and Electric was reporting that 6,457 residents or business were still without power out of their 1.333 million customers as crews continue to work around the clock to repair 542 active outages.
As of 12:45 p.m., Baltimore Gas and Electric was still reporting outages in Baltimore City (4,781), Baltimore (1,328), Anne Arundel (222), and Calvert (six) counties.

For the second time in two years, a lucky Lottery player in Maryland won $50,000 playing a Pick 5 ticket.
"AA County Man," a self-described "regular player" struck again using a friend's birthday digits, he says, making it two five-figure wins in two years.
“Just put, ‘AA County Man strikes again’” he said on July 11 after claiming a $50,000 prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters in Baltimore, a familiar space or him, having previously hit on two 50-cent Pick 5 tickets – $25,000 each - in June 2022.
