On Saturday, Aug. 10, Animal Services picked up a cat near the Best Western hotel on Elwoods Road in North East that later tested positive for the virus after acting aggressively in the area. Firefighter, Resident Injured During Maryland Apartment Fire That Left Dozens Displaced More than a dozen apartments were deemed uninhabitable in Howard County and a firefighter was injured when a blaze broke out early on Saturday morning. At around 5:30 a.m. Howard County Fire and EMS crews were called to the 6000 block of Orchard Club Drive in Elkridge, where there was a reported fire in the area. The fire was placed under control within an hour.  In total, approximately 40 people were displaced, according to officials.
