A Maryland father is accused of assaulting his wife with children in the house, then shooting a responding officer with a shotgun during an hours-long standoff that ended in his arrest, authorities said.
Daniel Matthew Anderson, 40, was taken into custody around 4:35 p.m. Thursday, June 12, after barricading himself for more than eight hours inside a home on Forrest Drive, according to the Hagerstown Police Department.
Officers first responded to the home around 5 a.m. for a domestic violence assault call.

Two teenagers are dead in Connecticut after a murder-suicide involving their mother's boyfriend in their home, police said.
Officers from the Watertown Police Department responded to a Litchfield Road home at approximately 9:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 3, where there was a report of a man who had just shot two teens, police said.
Upon arrival, they found the teens with gunshot wounds to the chest, and their mother's boyfriend, Paul Ferguson, 42, with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the master bedroom.

Man Safe After Threatening To Jump From Roof Of Linden City Hall
A man spent hours on the roof of Linden City Hall Monday, threatening to jump as police and other first-responders tried to bring him to safety, a police spokesman said.
Authorities cleared the scene around 5:30 p.m. The spokesman, Lt. Christopher Geunther, confirmed the man was safely in custody.
The man climbed to the roof of the building, located at 301 N. Wood Ave., around 1:45 p.m., nearly four hours earlier.
