Package With Potentially Suspicious White Powder Intercepted Before Reaching Maryland: Reports A package with a suspicious white substance was intercepted at a United States Post Office in Connecticut earlier this week and could be part of a much larger scheme to disrupt or scare election workers ahead of election day, authorities said.  The package was found at a West Hartford post office on Monday, Sept. 16, the Connecticut Secretary of State said in a news release. Teen Among Four Arrested After Being Busted With Stolen Handgun During Maryland Stop: Sheriff A teenager is being charged as an adult along with three other suspects following a midday stop that found them in possession of a stolen weapon in Frederick County. At around 1:45 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 5, officers from the sheriff's office stopped a vehicle in the area of Executive Way and Macon Street in Frederick for a reported traffic violation. Vegetables, Bagged Salads Sold In 18 States Recalled Due To Listeria Concerns A recall for a brand of vegetables and bagged salads has been expanded to 18 states due to possible Listeria contamination. Ohio-based Wiers Farm began its investigation in response to the Michigan Department of Agriculture's original findings, which led to the expansion.  Products in the expanded recall were packed between Friday, July through Friday, July 12. Vegetables that are part of the recall include cucumbers, green bell and jalapeno peppers, green beans, and cilantro. They were sold in a variety of different stores, including Walmart.
