A new alert has been issued in Anne Arundel County after a raccoon tested positive for rabies. The county's Department of Health issued an alert on Friday, Nov. 8 advising that anyone who came into contact with a raccoon on or near Trailing Ivy Lane, not far from Jones Elementary School in Severna Park, should contact officials after the animal was captured on Thursday, Nov. 7. The Frederick County Health Department is cautioning that a cat found roaming around an area neighborhood has tested positive for rabies. An alert was issued on Thursday, Aug. 15, advising the community that a cat that was tracked down in the 3000 block of Garfield Road that later tested positive for the virus after attacking two people. A feral cat who became aggressive outside a Cecil County hotel has tested positive for rabies, the Health Department confirmed on Wednesday. On Saturday, Aug. 10, Animal Services picked up a cat near the Best Western hotel on Elwoods Road in North East that later tested positive for the virus after acting aggressively in the area. A fresh alert has been issued in Frederick County after a groundhog tested positive for rabies after attacking a dog near the Taskers Chance swimming pool. An alert was issued by the Health Department after it was notified that a groundhog in the Frederick neighborhood tested positive for the virus after it was picked up from the stormwater management pond area near the swimming pool on Bel Aire Lane.
