A Maryland man who served as the getaway driver for MS-13 gunmen who opened fire on a group of men in cold blood, killing one, will spend decades behind bars.
Silver Spring native Jonathan Leon-Chacon, 28, was sentenced to 75 years in prison for his role in a deadly late-night meetup that led to the death of 19-year-old Willians Anderson Alberto Cruz in 2022, the Montgomery County State's Attorney's Office announced on Monday, March 23.
The shooting happened around 3:58 a.m. on Nov. 9, 2022, on Colony Road, where four victims had gathered near a car, listening to music.

Now, a Baltimore man has been charged in connection with the shooting that killed young mother Taniya Gray earlier this month in Southwest Baltimore, according to police.
Tamal Johnson, 22, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of murder, conspiracy, and several firearm offenses after investigators determined he was involved in Gray’s killing on May 11, police said.
The Baltimore Police Department announced his arrest on Wednesday, May 28. Investigators described Johnson as a repeat violent offender.

A Maryland woman is facing murder charges after allegedly shooting and killing her boyfriend, then calling police herself to report the deadly shooting at their Worcester County home, state police announced.
Bonnie Hackendorn, 61, of Bishopville, was arrested and charged with multiple counts of murder after the incident was reported late Monday night, according to Maryland State Police.
The victim has been identified as David Shaulis, 57, of Bishopville. He was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders, police said.
