A Montgomery County father will spend more than a decade in prison after brutally shaking and punching his 5-month-old daughter, causing catastrophic injuries that left her hospitalized for a month, prosecutors announced.
Oliver Hernandez-Caballero, 26, of Damascus, was sentenced on Tuesday, April 1, to 25 years in prison with all but 14 years suspended after being convicted of first-degree child abuse, according to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.
He will serve five years of supervised probation when he is released.

Police in Montgomery County are concerned there may be more potential victims following the recent arrest of a Damascus man who was accused of the rape and sexual abuse of multiple underage girls.
Irvin Ariel Portillo, 28, was charged following an investigation after being tipped off late last month about a possible rape involving a minor.
