A report of a student possibly carrying a knife sent a Bergen County high school into lockdown Friday morning, Oct. 9, prompting a response from six police departments, marking the third lockdown at the school in 2026 but first for this school year, authorities said.

Tazyha Walker, 33, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 8, in connection with the Sept. 8 theft at the American Dream Mall in East Rutherford, New Jersey State Police Trooper II Christopher Postorino said.

Man Climbs Through Ex-GF's Hackensack Window, Chokes Her: Police
A Newark man climbed through his ex-girlfriend's kitchen window in Hackensack, grabbed her by the neck and squeezed until she became dizzy, authorities said.
Ruben P. Vera, 33, was arrested Thursday, Oct. 8, more than seven months after the alleged attack, Hackensack Police Detective Captain Darrin DeWitt said.
The woman told police Vera entered her apartment through a kitchen window about 30 minutes before she called authorities at 12:32 a.m. Sunday, March 1, DeWitt said.
