A $12,000 necklace from a high-end Connecticut jeweler is now at the center of disturbing new allegations against Ali Al-Fayed, the brother of late billionaire Mohamed Al-Fayed, in a shocking "60 Minutes Australia" investigation.
The exposé, released Sunday, March 10, features explosive claims from a woman identified only as Kim, a former assistant to Egyptian-business Mohamed Al-Fayed. She alleges the former Harrods owner attempted to rape her before “passing her” to his brother Ali, who then sexually assaulted her, according to the report.
Ali Al-Fayed allegedly bought her luxury gifts on the night of the reported assault, including a bottle of wine and a beaded garnet and gold necklace worth more than $12,000—purchased from Manfredi Jewels, an elite jewelry store in Greenwich, CT, near where he has lived since 1990.
Kim kept the necklace and presented it as evidence, appearing on camera with the jewelry at the 41-minute mark of the "60 Minutes Australia" segment.
According to investigative biographer Tom Bower, who has written extensively on the Al-Fayed family, expensive gifts like this were often used as hush money to silence victims.
A representative for Ali Al-Fayed in an email to Daily Voice said he "unequivocally denies" the allegations.
"Ali Fayed unequivocally denies any and all allegations of wrongdoing," the statement reads. "The alleged incidents simply never occurred. Mr Fayed is not a perpetrator and will not be scapegoated. He will robustly defend himself against these unsubstantiated claims and will not allow false accusations to go unchallenged.”
