Second Teen Dies After Columbia Mall Shooting, Suspect Faces New Charges: Police

A second teen victim has died after a targeted shooting outside a Columbia grocery store, and the accused gunman now faces additional charges, authorities announced.

Blake McCray, 15, of Columbia, succumbed to his injuries after spending days in critical condition following the Feb. 22 double shooting near the Lidl in the 10300 block of Little Patuxent Parkway, according to Howard County Police.

The suspected shooter, Emmetson Zeah, 18, of Columbia, was already charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of 16-year-old Michael Robertson, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

With McCray’s passing, police said Zeah’s charges will be amended.

Investigators believe Zeah targeted both victims, though the motive remains unclear more than a week later.

Officers recovered a gun and the clothing Zeah allegedly wore during the shooting from his residence.

Additionally, Zeah has now been linked to an earlier, non-contact shooting on Friday, Feb. 14 in the 10200 block of Twin Rivers Road in Columbia.

Officials say he fired several shots but did not strike anyone in that incident.

Zeah remains held without bail at the Howard County Detention Center.
