Traffic was tied up on I-270 on Tuesday afternoon in Montgomery County as travelers began heading out of town for the holiday. Several southbound lanes were shut down on the interstate before 3 p.m. on Nov. 26 in Montgomery County as crews worked to investigate and clear a reported traffic incident. As of 3 p.m. on Tuesday, three right lanes on I-270 were closed, and motorists were cautioned to expect "significant delays" and to seek alternate routes. Some motorists were held up on Wednesday afternoon in Montgomery County when a dump truck overturned and spilled debris into a busy roadway. A driver was killed early on Friday morning in Howard County after crossing over several lanes on Route 32 in Columbia and striking a concrete barrier. A teenager is among the two killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 495 on Saturday, July 13. Quintin Barnes, 37 of Reisterstown, MD, and a passenger 19-year-old Jasmine Jeffries, were riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle north on I-495 "when for reasons unknown, struck the rear of the Dodge," as police stated in the release. The Montgomery County Department of Police has identified the 42-year-old man killed by a hit-and-run driver who remains at large two weeks later. Takoma Park resident Candido Noe Rojas Rojas was fatally struck shortly after 1:15 a.m. on June 3 in the 1100 block of University Boulevard, investigators say.
