First Human Case Of West Nile Virus Reported In Maryland This Year
The Maryland Department of Health has confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus in 2024. On Monday, an alert was issued by the agency advising that an adult living in the Baltimore metro region of Maryland has tested positive for the virus and is recovering from the infection. The dog days of summer have brought mosquitos carrying the West Nile Virus to another neighborhood in Maryland. In Prince George's County, the Maryland Department of Agriculture said that mosquitoes have tested positive for the virus in Laurel, following similar reports in different parts of the state.
