Family Displaced After Tree Falls On 2-Story Maryland Home A Maryland family awoke to a tree crashing through the middle of their two-story home before dawn on Friday, March 1. The tree fell on a home on the 2900 block of Collins Avenue in Wheaton around 4:45 a.m., Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service Spokesperson Pete Piringer said. The large, “old growth” tree was in the back of the home and fell through the middle of the structure, knocking out power to several nearby houses and causing a small gas leak, Piringer said. 6 Evacuated After Car Slams Into Maryland Apartment Building (Photos) Six people were evacuated from two Montgomery County apartments after a vehicle slammed into the building on Tuesday morning, Feb. 13, authorities said. The crash occurred on King James Way in Gaithersburg around 7:25 a.m., Montgomery County Fire & Rescue Service Spokesperson Pete Piringer said. The Technical Rescue Team stabilized the structure as six people were evacuated from apartments above the area where the car struck, Piringer said.
